Monumental Antique Majolica Soup Tureen
Monumental Antique Majolica Soup Tureen – "Dramatic Red & Turquoise" – Vallauris, c. 1900
The tureen features a deep, vibrant blood-red glaze with a high-gloss finish. Its most striking feature is the highly detailed baroque sculptural elements: the feet, handles, rim, and lid finial are formed into organic, sculpted motifs (resembling vegetables or floral scrolls), accentuated with a fascinating turquoise-blue and dark glaze. This contrast gives the tureen a nearly mystical and dramatic presence. The matching ladle features the same turquoise accents on its handle.
This is not just a functional object; it is a powerful sculptural statement piece that commands attention in any refined or eclectic interior.
Condition: Exceptional! Fully intact, which is remarkably rare for sculpted majolica of this size and age. The glaze remains vivid and the structural integrity is perfect (please refer to photos for details).
